AURAS

“Aura” refers to several things:

- The invisible, colored halo of light (for those who can see it) surrounding a person. Is often associated with that person’s soul, spirit, emotional energy, magic, etc. but can be regarded independently of these things. Its appearance varies more than stereotypical auras (in our world), as it often fluctuates and changes shape in sync with that person’s mental state, and interacts with other people and auras through “ribbons” that extend from its center. Like emotions, most people are somewhat in control of their aura. However, it takes a certain level of discipline to consciously manipulate it, and moreso to use it for magic and functional purposes. Those with manipulation abilities can extend, retract, disguise, or change the shape of their aura.
- The soul or incorporeal being of a person.
- The spirit--identity, emotion, mental abilities, experience, and memories--of a person. “Spirit” can also denote communities or non-human things like locations.
- Genetics. One’s aura contains all of their “genes,” though they are not called so in Vael.

The only ones besides the Gods themselves who can create, alter, or destroy auras are demigod-like, ethereal beings (no name yet) who aid the Gods in ruling magic--are The most common aura altering is done in birth and death (Moonish or Vaelian), or for granting/strengthening magic abilities.
